VR in-a-box è un sistema stereoscopico "chiavi in mano" facile da trasportare, installare ed usare. Il sistema è composto da un PC, un proiettore 3D con occhiali ed emeitter, sistema audio, device utente, motore 3D realtime, un'applicazione di Realtà Virtuale, Realtà Aumentata e QR-codes.
La Moschea di Roma in «3D+VR+AR+QR» è la prima applicazione dimostrativa sviluppata per il sistema «VR in-a-box».
L'applicazione offre all'utente l'esplorazione interattiva degli spazi 3D stereoscopico, usando il joypad e, prossimamente, sistemi di gesture recognition e natural interaction.
Alcuni totem multimediali sono posizionati nello spazio virtuale e propongono, all'utente che si avvicina, contributi multimediali trasmessi attraverso vari canali su tablet e smartphones:
- stuart e hostess virtuali compaiono a grandezza reale;
- QR-Codes conducono a pagine web e social networks;
- AR-Codes pubblicano panorami a 360° e modelli 3D;
La multicanalità permette di configurare modalità diverse di fruizione, da quella singola e contemplativa a quella di gruppo e fortemente interattiva.
"VR in-a-box" è un sistema pensato per musei medio-piccoli, Enti ed aziende che possono usare la Realtà Virtuale come supporto alla formazione ed alla didattica.
E' un progetto di Davide Borrra realizzando dalle aziende del 3D Company Network, la filiera MIMOS dedicata al Virtual Cultural Heritage e composta da Noreal.it, CADLand, Kairos3D, G-MAPS.
L'innovativa applicazione è stata presentata al Convegno Internazionale Digital Heritage 2013 in programma fino al 1 novembre a Marsiglia.

The "VR in-a-box" is a complete 3D stereoscopic portable system, easy to transport, install and use.
The system is composed by a PC + 3D proiector with emitter and glasses + audio system + user devices + realtime engine + applications for Virtual Reality, Augmented Realityt and QR- codes. The system is totally customizable and is possibile to allow frontal or retro proiection. A projection screen can to be added to the system.
The Mosque of Rome in « 3D+VR+AR+QR » is the first demo developed for "VR in-a-box".
The application allows the user to explore interactively the space inside and outside the bigger mosque in Europe (30'000 sqm), wearing the 3D glasses and using the joypad or, soon, through systems of gesture recognition and natural interacion.
The multimedia totems are positioned in the virtual space and offers various types of contents:
- multimedia informations (text, pictures, videos..)
- virtual speakers, in real scale
Each totem active also the augmented contents, using a mobile app on tablets/smartphones:
- QR Codes to access a multimedia webpages and social networks
- AR codes to access a virtual panoramas and interactive 3D models
The framework developed allow to mix various technologies and, consequentely, various narrative possibilities all integrated into the same framework:
- a singular experience using the VR environment
- a shared experience using the VR system plus the augmented contributes thanks your personal device
- a social experience publishing 2.0 contents trough the social networks
The "VR in-a-box" is a system dedicated to small and medium Museums and to istitutions and companies that use a VR system to support training solutions.
It's a project by Davide Borra, made by the companies of 3D Company Network (a supply chain of MIMOS): Noreal.it, CADLand, Kairos3D, G-Maps.
The innovative application was presented to the International Conference Digital Heritage 2013 until 1 November in Marseille.
